What Marketers Should Know about Twitter
September 11, 2007 – 1:37 pmI’m a former Twitter user. Maybe I just didn’t give it enough time, and maybe its because I didn’t know enough people using the service, but I didn’t find it useful in my day-to-day world of email, IM, RSS, blogs, and SMS.
However, new ideas are emerging about how web marketers can make better use of Twitter, as in “What Web Marketers Should Know about Twitter” from MarketingProfs.com. They suggest that Media companies use Twitter to reach innovator audiences who are familiar with other Web 2.0 technologies, in order to open a conversation and dialog with their readers.
Is Twitter ready for the mainstream? That’s something that only your marketing team can determine by surveying the audience. I do think it serves as a useful tool for live updating from conferences and events. And if you’re one of the few with not enough to do at work, you could let your friends know that you’re headed out to get a sandwich.
