Whether you’ve been using marketing as part of your online marketing strategy for 2 weeks or 2 years, it never hurts to review a few basic tips. These reminders are from Email Marketing Tips

  • Get personal
  • Write a meaningful subject line and intro
  • Copy – a few rules that you should follow:

    * Be concise – reading lengthy copy on the screen is hard on the eyes and your prospective clients’ patience
    * Use short sentences, paragraphs and bullets points to ease reading
    * Use the correct spelling and punctuation
    * Avoid the over use of capitals
    * Avoid jargon

  • Be sure to proof the copy
  • Test your e-mail before you send it
  • Be prepared to handle inquires
  • Answer all replies with 24 hours

A few other tips we would add:

  • Review key metrics: Open rates, click-thru rates, and conversion rates, when appropriate
  • Test! Sure, its is important to test your message for errors, but test different types of messaging (HTML versus text, use of images, time of day, day of mailing). A/B list splits provide valuable insight into what is going to resonate with your audience.
  • Plan ahead. Email is often seen as a quick and easy way to generate a quick boost in sales or registrations, but using a well thought out email schedule can increase your effectiveness as your readers become accustomed to receiving your messages, and look forward to reading them.
