One Way to Integrate Twitter with Online Marketing

November 26, 2007 – 12:14 pm

I admit, I fell prey to the Twitter phenomenon once. It lasted for about a week before I decided that it wasn’t for me. As much as I like social networking sites, I just didn’t have the magic moment. Maybe I didn’t have enough “friends” using it, or maybe I went about it all wrong.

Nathania at Bold Interactive came up with a creative way to use Twitter. Essentially, you track Twitter conversations for specific keywords (her example was tracking “golf” for a company that provides golfing products). When you find someone who seems to be on the same track that you are, you can then “follow” them (essentially, being their friend). If they decide to “follow” you back, then you’ve got your candidate for promotions

Her idea may be best implemented for companies that have a concrete product, like golf balls. Nevertheless, it may be worth it to follow some keywords for your industry for a while to decide if Twitter is worth your online marketing time. If there’s enough conversation, twitter away.
