Credibility Issues of Wikipedia

If you’re at all like me, when you don’t know the meaning of something, or the details of it, you probably turn to your favorite search engine. Its likely that among the top choices of links is one from the infamous Wikipedia. Sometimes I also just visit Wikipedia to see the featured article, or get lost in the vast world of interlinked knowledge that it provides.

In “The Credibility Issues of the Wiki World“, Douglas Rozen raises the interesting point of “How responsible is it for a society to be given the responsibility to fact check every entry at Wikipedia?” He goes on to discuss how the virtual worlds of Web 2.0, including Wikis and blogs, need to be factored into your marketing models - especially with the escapism factors. Is how you represent your brands in a virtual world matching the branding in the real world that most of us work and (hopefully) live in?

Oh, and Doug… a Lumen is “the SI unit of luminous flux, a measure of the perceived power of light. Luminous flux differs from radiant flux, the measure of the total power of light emitted, in that luminous flux is adjusted to reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelengths of light.” That, of course, is according to Wikipedia. :)
