Chicago—The Blog Council, an organization made up of top global brands, was officially launched Thursday with a goal of sharing corporate blogging strategies and developing standards-based best practices.
Founding members include Cisco Systems, Dell, Microsoft Corp. and Wells Fargo.

“Every major corporation is struggling with the question of how to use blogs and engage the blogosphere the right way,” said Sean O’Driscoll, general manager-community support services at Microsoft, and a member of the council.

The council will also address issues such as managing employee blogs and engaging and responding to bloggers who write about individual companies.
