Community 2.0 Conference

January 16, 2007 – 9:27 pm

The Community Management & Marketing Council is producing their first annual event for building community, entitled “Community 2.0

The conference will be held in Las Vegas, March 12-14. The agenda includes case studies from AOL, eBay, MySpace and Yahoo.

Community is of growing importance among eMedia professionals. As we have watched the growth of sites such as MySpace, Facebook, we can see the power of networking and allowing users to self-select their friends, bands and interests. By harnessing the power of this selection, we can learn more about our readers and users. Social bookmarking sites like Digg, Del.icio.us and more also allow both the sponsors, developers and casual bystanders to understand more about what drives the community.

By harnessing the power of the communities in the future, we can develop products that serve our readers rather than forcing the readers into the molds we create.
